I've had this blog entry in mind for a few weeks and I have a few minutes to jot it down here.
Today's Forward Friday is one of my favorite links, BibleGateway. BibleGateway is a website version of the Bible. It has numerous translations of the Bible and comes in different languages. I came across this link in college and it has been a timely resource for when I'm on the computer and I need to look for a verse to encourage me or someone I'm emailing.
So why a forward about the Bible? Well, as much as it's fun, interesting and easier to read other godly blogs/webpages, our main diet should be the Bible and we can cultivate that appetite by continually being in the Word. As I've said before when describing my devotional appetite, the Bible is my main meal. I may have an appetizer by reading Morning and Evening by CH Spurgeon, and dessert afterwards by reading John Piper or CJ Mahaney, but my main and largest course of my devotional reading should be the Bible.
I have to confess sometimes I like to just eat just appetizers or dessert for real food and spiritual food. I'm currently in this pattern! But only by God's kindness, He lets me hunger for real spiritual food, and I'm drawn back to His word. And when I read His word, I am truly satisfied. How kind and good of God to want me to be satisfied and full and drawing me to His word where all my needs are met.
Toodles,

Amen Sara,
Thank you for speaking the truth and reminding all of us that the main course should stay the main thing!
As a fellow dessert & appetizer gal, let me tell you, this was a great reminder to me. Thanks, Sara!

Bible Gateway is awesome! And I could totally relate to wanting to snack or satisfy my sweet tooth instead of sitting down to healthy and nourishing meals, physically and spiritually. Thank you for sharing the wisdom of God on your blog, Sara -- I always come away blessed!
Love, lisa
