So life was crazy this week...I had to stay late at work and get up super early (5 AM - shudder) several days this week for a project to get done Thursday. The project? My bosses were having a coffee break to says thanks to all 132 staff members for all their hard work for the past year and they always give a gift every year. This year it was a personalized calendar with everyone's pictures in it and I had to create it, take pictures, print it and put it together physically...let's just say it was the longest (over 6 months of taking close to 200 pictures, design layout, etc., and 1 crazy week of putting it together) and most taxing project (I used a combinding(?) machine for the first time and if you know what one is - then we need to talk!) I've ever done... but it was received with great success...everyone liked it..but I am tired and ready for the weekend!

Philly
Hey everyone..I'm here in Philly and will have internet access so I'll be able to check email and the blog world. For those in my Crossway family, I wish I could be there today during church to be with you all as we mourn together the passing of Livi and celebrate together that our prayers for a miracle were answered and that she is in heaven, healed, and with Jesus our Savior and God our Father.
And I'm still working out details to maybe try to come to the funeral, so if you read the previous post and can help, please email me here.
Grateful for all of you...

Out of Town
Hello readers,
Just wanted to let you know that I will be out of town for the next couple of days. I am attending a national probation association being held in Philly this year. I am leaving Sunday morning and returning Wednesday afternoon.
While I'm glad for the change of scenery and going away and getting paid for it, I am sad to be out of town while my church family grieves with the Haugherys and Allens on the passing of Alivia. The funeral is happening while I am away and I am sad at the thought of not attending the funeral, but there is an idea.
There is a possibility of me taking the train from Philly to Lancaster on Tuesday when the funeral is, but I would need to be picked up, taken to the funeral and then taken back to the train station to go back to Philly. I am planning on talking to my boss tomorrow and see what she says and maybe make plans. If this is a possibility, would someone be willing to pick me up and chauffeur me around? I'm not sure who will be going to the funeral but if you can spare to pick me up and drop me off at the station, I would be very grateful.
Grateful for all you...

Summer, summer, summer time...
I thought I would update with some of the things I've been up to lately and plans for the summer:
-Vital Life Course on Biblical Counseling
Just wrapped this up this week and it was a wonderful 9 week teaching on biblical counseling from the book Instrument's in the Redeemer's Hands from Pastor Bill. The classes were really good and I often felt like the course counseled me more than learning how to counsel others. There were times of role play with our friend "Elaine" (played by the fabulous Melissa Stoltzfus) but I felt sometimes I wanted to be in the chair to receive the excellent counseling by all.
-Healthy Lifestyle
With some friends and close neighbors support and encouragement, I am working towards getting back to healthier lifestyle with watching what I eat and exercising too. I am going back on the Weight Watchers program I did in the fall where I lost 15 lbs in the 10 weeks before I left for my trip to Hawaii. I am not going to the meetings, but I am keeping track of what I eat more closely. And I know I'm already falling off the wagon because I haven't kept track of my points this week! I am also trying to exercise at least 3 times a week by taking 20 minute walks around my neighborhood. This has been going well.
-Getting to Bed on time
Over the past year, through messages, reading Humility by CJ Mahaney and through seeing consequences of my sinful behavior, I am making the concerted effort to get to bed at an earlier time. Sleep is a gift from God for our good. When I consistently abuse that gift, I am being rebellious towards God and rejecting his best in my life. I have seen marked improvement by getting to bed at a time every night in my health and in my days.

Welcome to your work week...
So this morning I’m getting ready and I whisk away to my car and when I get to the parking garage and make for my office building. I notice something’s funny about how I’m walking. I did do some physical activity this weekend so I think I’m just sore or something, but nothing hurts. So I stop in the middle of the sidewalk and look down and I’m wearing two different shoes…they look VERY similar except one has a wide heel and the other is flat..so I chuckle to myself and try to walk without bringing attention to my mistake….I wish I could say that I'm making this up, but I'm not and for proof see below...

Set Apart
So, in the past couple of the days, the word "slacker" has been mentioned to me and I guess it has been awhile since I posted. Thank you though for not calling me a "slacker" right away since I posted pictures because it's been a very busy month of May for me.
This past weekend, I finished unpacking ALL the boxes that needed to be unpacked. Some might call the boxes strewn everywhere shabby chic, but to me, it was all shabby and no chic. I have hung up a few things on the walls and I'm starting to get into feelings of normalcy around the house. I've met more of my neighbors, specifically across the street. Every neighbor I meet keeps telling me what a great neighborhood it is and everyone seems genuinely welcoming me into their world.
This past weekend was a long one for me since I had the Monday holiday and I took off two extra days. On cool mornings I would sit outback on my porch and have devotions and watch the birds, bunnies and squirrels bustling here and there.
As I was having devotions one day and crying out to God for faith in an area where my faith is so small and grows less and less it seems, I was reminded that nothing is too hard for the Lord and that He deeply cares for those He has sent His Son to die on the cross for their sins and called to live a life of trusting and obeying Him. The blessings and life He's given me has been set apart for me by Him alone through grace. I need not worry or fret because He is the author and sustainer of my life. And I find great comfort that when Jesus was here on earth he experienced human life and can relate to all my weaknesses. Now that he is in heaven, he is at the Father's side petitioning for me in my weaknesses.
So that's my update...Toodles!

This Week
Hey everyone,
If you're reading this, thank you for reading and consider praying for me after reading.
This week two major life changes are happening. I bought and moved into my new house (yay!) and my boss is leaving Friday to take a promotion with the state (not so yay). So I'm experiencing some MAJOR changes. I am feeling alot of different emotions from the excitement of the house to the sadness of my boss leaving. My boss is a Christian man who I've come to greatly respect and I will miss working with him. I am happy for him and this wonderful opportunity, but I am also sad.
Through it all, I have a overwhelming sense of God's presence in my life. Things have changed and will continue to change, but God does not change. If I had to summarize what God has been showing me in the year 2007 (I know it's only May) it would be that GOD IS THE GREAT SUSTAINER. He is completely trustworthy and completely reliable for all our needs.
That was brief and probably eliciting more questions than answers, but please consider praying for me this week and next. Pray that I would continue to rest in God alone. Pray I won't be overwhelmed by everything happening around me. Pray I won't be discouraged during this time of change, but that I would be looking forward to what's ahead as my life has turned some major corners.
Thanks in advance for praying!

Slow Blogging
Hello everyone,
Sorry I have not been posting much lately...life is busy right now with the house and getting ready for that, but I've also had some changes at work too. My one boss is retiring in the middle of May to take a job at the state level. While I'm excited for him, I'm sad he's leaving and even more sad because he's a godly Christian man whom I greatly respect. So, with that said, I'll be getting a new boss and changes will be happening. Not too many I hope with my position, but I will have to assist my current boss and whoever my new boss will be as everyone gets settled into their respective places. This will be alot of work, but I am excited for what will come about of it. And this situation is not new for me...this occurred two years when a previous boss of mine retired as well...so hopefully I will be better prepared this time around...I wish I could say that I am close to retirement but that is not the case. :-)
God has been kind to me through this new development at work. I've been reminded that God's grace is not leaving me because my Christian boss is leaving me and he was a part of God's grace to me here at my job. I'm also very excited and see this God blessing my boss with a substantial promotion to the state level where he can influence more people. It all reminds me of Joseph or Daniel of the Bible and how God placed Christians in certain positions to carry out His plan.
Sorry this is short, but at this point and probably for the next couple of weeks, I think I will be over saturated with details and things to do..I will update as often as I can...thanks to everyone who leaves comments...it helps me to know people are interested in how I'm doing...

LI(life)FE
Ever feel like you're living life in your life? I know it sounds strange, but with buying a house thing, I feel like the event of buying a house has inserted itself into my rather full life. Not that I'm complaining, but "normal" life needs to keep happening - time with God, laundry, food preparation, cleaning, serving, developing and maintaining friendships and relationships, and the list goes on...The past few weeks have been busy and God has been gracious and kind to extend sustaining grace for "normal" life...
So, in no particular preference, this post is kind of a recap of "normal" life -
-A few weekends ago, I attended a 21st birthday party for Natalie Kane. Part of the celebration including watching the movie North and South. I LOVED the movie! If you've never seen the movie, do not read the description on the back. The description includes, in my opinion, some false advertisement. I got into trouble with the false advertisement and I'm not sharing what that means on this blog. (Shannon - is that a good enough recap for you? :-) )
- Alpha, a 10 week course at my church, is coming to an end here in 2 weeks...I love being at Alpha and the wonderful memories created from it! All the ladies in the kitchen are "da bomb!"
- Last weekend, I had the opportunity to watch the movie Amazing Grace at the new Penn Cinema with a girlfriend, Christine SCHMAL-HOFFER! (You can't just say her name normally!) Excellent movie! I studied British history in college and that time period is my favorite of Great Britain because of all the social changes that occurred. I thought the movie did well with emphasizing the long and arduous tasks Wilberforce took to abolish slavery and the other social changes he was part of changing. I also thought the movie did well in portraying the obstacles Wilberforce encountered in the House of Commons, although I thought the movie could have done better with that. The abolition of slavery in the greatest nation at the time would send ripples throughout the British empire and other countries around the world politically, economically and socially. To compare it to something of today's scene with a similar emphasis of the effect, it would be like the USA switching from using crude oil to some other alternative resource. Yeah, it's that big of a deal...
- And last but not least, this past weekend I tried a new recipe that is absolutely fun and easy to make! It is called mini-meatloaves! This is not the recipe I tried but it gives you an idea! They are yummy and easy to make and you can freeze them for future meals. I placed 12 equal scoops of the meatloaf concoction in a 12 cup muffin pan and voila! six meals for the future!

Lots of updates...
It's Sunday evening and I am enjoying the last few free hours before it's time for bed and then time to wake up for work. I've had a nice, looong, relaxing but productive weekend and here's a list of what went down...
Thursday - I had breakfast with Danielle and her family. It was yummy! I had to pace myself though because I would be having Thanksgiving dinner with Gary and Patti Smith's family later in the day. I think the key to Thanksgiving food is pacing yourself. I had a wonderful time with the Smith's. The food and company were excellent! We played games and we watched the movie, Cars.
Friday - I slept in from my night of partying with the Smiths and enjoyed the day. I did not go anywhere. I live near the outlets and 30 and I did not want to venture out into Black Friday. Crazy!
Saturday - I helped with moving the Garners. It was tons of fun and all I have to say is "It's all about the Purple!" Julie has this amazing Dyson vacuum cleaner and let's just say that 2 college educated women could not figure out how to use it! We probably spent a good part of the time trying to figure the thing out, but it rocked! I had tons of fun catching up with my good friend Lisa (hey homeslice!) while we slaved and cleaned the whole apartment. Later that night, I caught up with Tracy G. at Regional Hospital and visited with Tony. Praise God Tony is doing better! He looks so much better and he may get to go home this week. Please continue to pray for a complete recovery and for peace for both Tony and Tracy.
Sunday - Spent most of the day preparing for the week. And I took some pictures with my newest purchase - a Canon Powershot A540. After researching and asking friends and family members advice, I went with this camera and I got a pretty sweet deal and I didn't have to be out in the crazy shopping Black Friday frenzy. I wanted to get one for my trip to Hawaii coming up soon. (Sorry I mentioned it but if you're curious to see how many days until my trip, I have a countdown to the left - as of today, it's 23 days!). I will need to practice and learn how to use it so I will be ready for Hawaii. Below is one my attempts.
