Super Bowl Reflections

It was hard this past week to be interested in the Super Bowl since the Steelers were not in it, but it was difficult to get away from ads, conversations and just plain curiosity of the Colts and Bears playing for Super Bowl XLI.

So Sunday, I was honored to watch the game with the Hess', Alicia of which is a HUGE Bears fan. She even showed me the Super Bowl Shuffle video of long ago when the Bears won their first Super Bowl. I secretly was rooting for the Colts (go AFC!) but I did root for the Bears when it seemed they would make a comeback.

After the game and during the trophy presentation, as I was gathering things to leave, my ear caught these remarks by Colts coach, Tony Dungy of winning the Super Bowl. I had alot of respect for the man prior to the Super Bowl and this only sealed the deal even more.

I'm proud to be the first African-American coach to win this...but again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord's way. We're more proud of that.

That made me smile.

It still does.

Hey Sara,
Right on! I didn't watch much of the Super Bowl, but just that alone made me watch what I did. Isn't that awesome? Not much into football, but I think I have a favorite team, now. To show you how much I am NOT a follower of football...
Bobby called Sunday and said Lizzy was rooting for the Colts. I asked "why, does she like there color or something?" Bobby's answer? "Uh...because they're from INDIANA." Oops.

Hey girlie
Watched the super bowl with Charlie and Lucy. Glad the Colts won. I also was very interested in seeing Dan Marino toss the coin and Coach Don Shula at the end carrying the trophy. My good old Miami Dolphin men from Dolphin history. Hopefully someday I will see those Dolphins in the Super Bowl again. The only team with an undefeated regular and playoff season. GO DOLPHINS!!!!
Get that corn outta my face.

Too many people on the Colts ban wagon. I tryed to convert more of you to be bears fans. Oh well. It would have been just as (or more) sweet to have the Lovie win the trophy. But I guess if they had to lose to anyone... Had fun with you there though hun:)

Ps. Did you know that in 1985 when the Bears were last in the Super Bowl the only team they lost to that year was the Dolphins. Just another football triva fact for you.:)
