This is your public service announcement in the midst of March Madness.

My church, Crossway Church of Lancaster, now has joined the ranks of bloggers and blog sites. The CCL Life blog is another way for the pastors to communicate to the church body. One thing I have found helpful is that you can have the option to have their posts emailed to you. I like this feature and have it for this blog. It's good for me, because often time, I only have time to check email and not surf the web.

So check out the CCL Life blog. Today's post by Doug is about the single ladies meeting a couple of weeks ago. I recommend everyone read the post. While it, I believed, served us single ladies, it can be applicable to anyone in an "identity crisis." Here's a quote that may pique your interest.

Whenever we choose to identify ourselves at a shallower depth than the deep soil of our common salvation in the gospel, we will quickly find the branches of fellowship become brittle as we shrink in our capacity to love and serve those who are different than us.

Reasons for Desiring God Ministries

I am a big fan of Desiring God. Mostly because of the excellent teaching offered by John Piper, who started Desiring God Ministries out of the conviction that "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him." In their newsletter this week, Piper goes over a brief summary of the reasons Desiring God exists. I appreciate Piper's humility on his ministry which is stated in the first paragraph of the article.

I also found it helpful in the article, a list of books and subjects they cover. It is by no means an exhaustive list of teachings on those subjects, but it is a sampling of what Desiring God Ministries offers. I also appreciate their policy of whatever-you-can-afford for purchasing materials. They truly wish to serve the body at large and trust God to provide for them. Their example of this kind of service has indeed spread to other online sites of Christian ministries as well.

So Desiring God posted their stats from last week's crazy idea of selling all their book for $5!

In the 2-and-a-half-day sale last week, we took almost 11,000 orders and moved more than 125,000 books. To give perspective, we usually only process about a hundred web orders a day, and in 2003 we were excited to have distributed 75,000 books in the whole year. (emphasis mine)

Thanks a lot to those of you who participated! Thanks especially for your patience when the website was slow and the phones were busy. In case you're wondering, we were not expecting to turn a profit with this sale—we actually planned on losing money. As it turns out, we broke even—Praise God! (emphasis mine - I'm glad they broke even, even though I don't see how!)

We are excited to see how God will use the books from this sale to glorify himself. And we are even more excited to dream up more ways we can join with you to keep spreading God-centered resources.

You've got to be kidding...

I just got 8 books by Piper for (drum roll please) $5 each (plus shipping and handling which made it more like $6/book) Getting the book Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood for $5 was so worth the deal!

NA'07 - the "Real" Promotion follow up

My phone is ringing off the hook. I have got so much business I dont know who to help first. These single women are going CRAZY looking for their man. I am working on a date to get together to have whoopie pie classes. They say the way to a man is through his stomach. Everybody will be bringing their copy of IKDG book and we are going to start a fire. And we will also be making "flirt like heck" necklaces. When I come up with the date I will be sure to let you know.
